Florence's Mission

Florence took a long journey to the Crimea. It seemed that Florence’s family were starting to accept the her choices and even enjoyed the attention she was starting to get.

The Crimean War was fought between Britain, France, Turkey and Sardinia against Russia. Newspapers were reporting of the terrible conditions the soldiers faced on the battlefield and even in the hospitals, thousands of whom were sick and dying. Florence trained her 38 nurses about hygiene and medicine and gave them uniforms ready to go abroad and make some changes.
