Victorian Working Family's Bedroom
The Pearson’s bedroom in Golcar. The children would sleep in the truckle bed, which pulled out from under the parent’s bed. Houses at this time had no running water and not bathrooms, hence the washstand on the left of the image. Note the spinning wheels. The bedroom was also a workroom, taking advantage of the light from the large windows. With no heating, this room would have been very cold to work in in the winter!
