Turtle Shell Once Used at Leeds Mayor's Banquet in 1812

This shell of a turtle was once used at a banquet given by the mayor of Leeds in 1812. It weighed 99lbs. Charles Brown was Mayor of Leeds 1811-12, covering the period of the Luddite attacks, so it is possible that this banquet was held to celebrate victory over the Luddites
