Saltaire Club and Institute in Early 1870s

Saltaire Club and Institute, early 1870s, known today as Victoria Hall. Titus Salt provided this building for two purposes: it was a social club for people to use in their spare time and it was a college for adults, where they could study for pleasure and to help them gain a better job at the mill. Facilities included a gymnasium, billiards room, library and science and arts classrooms
