Hay Outside a WW1 Barrack Building

Image from the album of Major Jack Lee Smith, East Riding Yeomanry. Smith was Commandant of the agricultural distribution centre at Beverley barracks. This 1917 photo shows hay being grown outside the barracks in Riding. Smith's notes suggest that the land had been a bowling green outside the officers' mess and was converted to grow first hay, then potatoes.
