Fragment of a 7th Century Brooch

This fragment of a gold cloisonne brooch. It is the oldest object found in the West Yorkshire Hoard, and probably dates to the early 7th century. It is only a small piece of the original which would have been a full circle, and has cells with space for gems to be inlaid. See the associated illustration of what the brooch may have looked like when made, in this resource.
