Cottage Interior Port Sunlight, 1914

The houses in Port Sunlight had separate rooms for sleeping, washing clothes and a parlour (living room) where food was cooked on a range (cooker). The houses were innovative for the time as most had toilets and bathrooms. Over 900 flats and houses were built in the village. Originally only employees of Lever Brothers Ltd could rent the houses.
