Dragon robe

Dragon robes were first made for the Emperor who wore them in a special golden yellow colour.  They feature dragons and other symbols of heaven and earth such as clouds, flaming pearls and, at the hem, a mountain peak surrounded by waves and water.    This is represented by a rainbow of diagonal stripes.

Dragons are also a symbol of the emperor and his heavenly powers.
