The Hull Blitz
Led Sessions at the Hull History Centre and Hull Museums
The Hull History Centre offers the following led session:
ARP apprentice (2 hour)
During this session pupils explore the Blitz in Hull through a task to find out about a ‘Top Secret Incident’
We also have plans to expand this programme in the future to make use of extensive collections from that era.
Why not combine visits to both sites?

2 hour led session at Hull History Centre
History, Geography, Citizenship, Literacy
Explore life in Hull during the blitz through:
- problem solving investigation into a ‘top secret incident’ with wartime documents
- exploring contemporary news reports
- create a role-play news report to accompany silent film footage
These activities are designed to improve key skills and support the National Curriculum. Using Hull’s unique archival and local studies WWII collections, participants will use communication, independent enquiry, map reading, teamwork, creative thinking, reflective learning and many more skills to gain an understanding of life during the Blitz.
Cost: Free introductory sessions until July 2010, charges from September 2010 - £2 per child
The Streetlife Museum offers a number of sessions for studying World War 2 at KS2:
Evacuation! (1 hour)
Home Front (1 hour)
On the Ration (1 hour)
