The Art of Cloisonné

Copper Wire Inlay

This step requires a lot of care and creativity.  The worker or 'artist' sticks the copper wires onto the object's body using vegetable glue.

The copper strips are about 1/16 inch thick and as long as the artist needs.  When the strips are stuck to the body in this way, they make up a complicated and beautiful pattern.

The artist has an idea or 'blue print' of the pattern in mind when he/she starts and will make full use of his experience, imagination and creativeness when setting the copper strips onto the body.
