Snapshot 1900: The Changing Picture of Class

Look at Page 26 of the 1902 Minute Book for the Bowling Club (download an enlarged version and zoom in for a closer look - see link below) and use the photographs on this page.

 

What event was the Bowling club planning in 1902? Who would be the honoured guests?  Why do you think they were being honoured in this way?    (There is an article on the Spartacus website which may help you - see Related Link below)

 

It has been assumed that the dinner was held in the Assembly Rooms in Bedale and that these were the rooms behind the Town Hall. Compare the two photographs – is the assumption correct? What details in the photos support your answer?

 

Would such an event happen today and if so, what sort of group would run it?
