Responses to Islamic Art

Introduction

The Bradford Young Ambassadors group are young people aged 16 to 25, who meet regularly at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery to share projects and discuss views about art. Listen to their conversations with glass artist Kalim Afzal.  The group looked at different works of art exhibited across Yorkshire for the Pillars of Light Alive! programme. This learning journey features works of art from the V&A collections exhibited in Palaces and Mosques at the Millennium Galleries in Sheffield, and the collections from Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Bradford.

Members of the group chose a work of art from each exhibition and wrote and talked about why they chose the objects and gave their personal response to them.

The group were also involved in creating timelines about the works of art, working with a software company developing a template that could be used to create multiple timelines. The two timelines are from 1200-1800 and 1994-2006 Click on the links to access them.
