Description:
Home to over 100 collections of rare books and archives on the history of the University, Bradford, Yorkshire, history, politics, literature, archaeology and much more, our best-known being the Archive of J.B. Priestley. We are the first English university to achieve Archive Accreditation.

Our collections are open to everyone and include manuscripts, letters, photographs, artworks, newspapers, maps, pamphlets, objects, pipes (Priestley's) and digital files.

Explore the 100 Objects Bradford online exhibition. It tells the stories of the most significant items in Special Collections at the University of Bradford, inspired by the British Museum series, 'A History of the World in 100 Objects'.

Learning Programmes:
Many Special Collections will be of great interest to schools. For example our J. B. Priestley Archive or historic material on peace and politics.

We are keen to work closely with teachers, especially those in the Bradford area.

Some examples of what we can offer.

- Advice for teachers on how to make the most of Special Collections (ours and others).

- Primary sources and support for A-level students doing research projects.

- Visits for small groups to the Reading Room (with teacher), as a taster to allow students to see real archives.

- Pre-booked discussions on social media.

-Learning objects based on the collections.

Our set-up and collections are best suited to Year 11 and above, though there is scope for working with younger age groups.

To discuss the possibilities in more detail, please contact Alison Cullingford, the Special Collections Librarian (see contact details section above).

Specialisms:
