The Chippendale Society was founded in 1965 in Otley, the home town of Thomas Chippendale. Its aims are:-
- to advance public education and to promote the appreciation and study of the work of Thomas Chippendale senior and junior
- to acquire, preserve and maintain examples of his work for the benefit of the nation

Learning Programmes:
The Chippendale Society interactive e-learning website (see link above) is aimed at children of primary school age and provides lots of fun and interactive ways to explore the life and work of Thomas Chippendale. The site includes a ‘design a chair’ game, videos of conservators showing traditional furniture techniques and an interactive timeline of the Georgian period. There are lots of resources to download including lesson plans, ideas for activities, images and historical information sheets.
