At the Resource Centre we offer a research service that gives everyone access to our collection of objects and archives that are not on display or out on loan.

The collections and learning team can help with enquiries and support individuals, schools and community groups on our premises, out in other venues or at events.


Group tours of the Resource Centre are available by prior arrangement and for a set fee.

National Civil War Centre Project:

Newark and Sherwood Museums service has recently developed a new museum and national centre for Civil War learning at the Old Magnus Buildings, Appletongate, Newark.

Learning Programmes:

Our Learning and Community Outreach Team offers a range of curriculum-based discovery boxes and activities covering KS1 to KS4 and beyond. We can also offer specialist studies sessions at our Resource Centre or outreach sessions in schools and community venues.
