Description:

Leeds Art Gallery began its life in 1888. This beautiful Victorian building has since been extended with the addition of a new facade and an overhead tunnel to the Henry Moore Institute. This creates a multitude of interesting spaces within the gallery, each with its own atmosphere. The building has four floors of 20th century traditional and contemporary British art, a very special watercolour collection and an exciting programme of temporary exhibitions. Many of the gallery's new purchases are multi-sensory. Including contemporary artwork from artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, Paula Rego and Mark Wallinger alongside artists from the past such as Henry Moore, Lady Elizabeth Butler and Stanley Spencer. The variety of works on show allows visitors an opportunity to explore art in numerous ways, as well as being both a creative and imaginative experience.
