Description:
Hull History Centre is a new and exciting project to bring together the collections of Hull City Archives, Hull Local Studies Library and Hull University Archives in one new purpose-built home. Our two core sessions are ‘Documenting our Past’, based on a timeline of Hull and ‘Behind the Scenes’, a session where students have the opportunity to see the inner workings of the building and collect their own research material along the way. These are complimented by new sessions on WW2, the English Civil War and Tudor Hull.
All the sessions will encourage the development of key skills using archive and local studies library material whilst bringing historical periods to life. We are also developing electronic resources to accompany and support our work with schools.
A risk assessment for the centre has been put together by the council’s School Visits Advisor and is available online at www.hgfl.org or on our website (link above).
