Description:

The SDC Colour Experience is the only colour museum in the world. The gallery contains a range of interactive exhibits designed to develop the visitor's understanding of colour including colour mixing, colour psychology, colour vision and using colour. We have an archive collection of objects connected with dyeing and colour in the textile industry.  The museum enables visitors to explore contemporary ideas in colour as used by fashion designers, clothing manufacturers and colour technologists.

Learning Programmes:

The Colour Experience offers a range of National Curriculum linked workshops based around colour. Guided tours of our interactive gallery are included to provide a full day's activities.  Our workshops include:

  • Light and Colour Experience KS1,2,3.
  • Dyeing to Colour KS2,3.
  • Nature's Own Colours KS2,3.
  • Block Textile Printing KS2,3.
  • Stained Glass Window KS1,2.
  • Historical Explorations (Roman, Egyptian, Greek or Tudor) KS2.
