Description:
Bracken Hall Countryside Centre and museum is situated on the edge of Shipley Glen, a popular beauty spot. The Centre has displays relating to the natural history, geology, archaeology and local history of the area. The colourful interactive wildlife exhibits delve into the lives of badgers, frogs and bats. Glass tanks contain a variety of local water creatures and mini-beasts. There are interactive displays about other animals and foodwebs.
The small charming garden attracts different kinds of wildlife throughout the year from tadpoles to butterflies and honeybees. The garden is designed to show how people can attract wildlife to their own gardens and also features bee-hives, rabbits, guinea pigs and a pond.

Bracken Hall Countryside Centre has a small exhibition space with an additional Teaching Room. Teachers following QCA schemes of work may be interested in using or adapting our curriculum focussed sessions:

- Art & Design (Suitable for KS1, 2, 3 & 4) Woodland Sculpture using natural materials. Landscapes, from stream valleys to moorland. Natural History utilising specimens from our collections.
- Science - Oak Woodland, Oak tree gall survey and distribution (Suitable for KS4)
