Military Patchwork Quilt
This watercolour portrait is of Sergeant Walter Henry Ellis who was born in Huddersfield in 1818, enlisted in the service in 1838 and after service in various regiments for 21 years, during which period he served in Mauritius and Australia, was discharged with a pension in 1862. In 1868 he is listed as a recruiting sergeant in Bradford. He is attributed to be the maker of the Military patchwork quilt featured on My Learning © Bradford Museums and Galleries
