Subsidised: To contribute money to somebody or something, especially in the form of a government grant to a private company, organization, or charity to help it to continue to function.
Scrimshaw: A carved or engraved article made originally by North American whalers from the teeth and bones of whales, or such articles collectively. To carve or engrave something into scrimshaw.
Stainless Steel: A corrosion-resistant steel containing at least 12 per cent chromium that has many domestic and industrial uses, for example cutlery, ball bearings, and turbine blades.
Tempered: Hardened through a tempering process. Tempered steel.
Traction: Application of a pulling force for surgical purposes, for example to reduce a fracture, maintain bone alignment, relieve pain, or prevent spinal injury.
Vice: A tool with two jaws that close by a lever or screw that is used to hold an object immobile so that it can be worked on.
Weld: To join together pieces or parts of some material by heating, hammering, or using other pressure, or to be joined in this way.
