Postcards first appeared around 1870, and picture postcards depicting scenic views of favourite tourist haunts became very popular around the turn of the century. The North Yorkshire County Record Office and North Yorkshire Libraries hold a large number of pictures and photographs for across the county. Over 10,000 historic photographs of the county and its inhabitants can be searched online in the Unnetie Digital Archive http://www2.northyorks.gov.uk/unnetie/.

Other Learning Journeys developed by North Yorkshire County Record Office through the 'Soup for the Soup Kitchen' project are available on the MyLearning website under the headings: 'Food and Diet in World War II', 'Food Photographs', 'Yorkshire Puddings!', and 'Healthy Eating and the Workhouse'.
