About this resource

Provides resources and information on various aspects of Victorian life, with particular reference to Huddersfield.
 
Curriculum Links and Learning Objectives


The resource can be used to support the teaching of National Curriculum History KS2 and focuses on the following units:-

Unit 11: What was it like for children living in Victorian Britain?
Unit 12: How did life change in our locality in Victorian times?

The resource will also support Drama and Citizenship, and the poems in the Audio Gallery can be used for teaching Upper KS2 Literacy, focusing on language and dialect. (A Word document containing full text transcripts of all four audio clips is available to download)

 After using the resource students should be able to:
  • Understand more about children's lives and the development of the local area
  • Discuss and analyse a variety of different sources to help develop ideas for independent work
  • Develop their own material using the content of the resource.
