Next Page

Introduction

Introduction

This learning journey provides tips and advice on carrying out local history research and can be used by all ages, with specific National Curriculum Links to History at KS2 and 3.

There is a hyperlinked list of websites (in a Word document) that can be used in activity sessions - see Worksheet links below.

Although the worksheets relate to Hull, the basic principles (and even some of the sources) can be applied to any area.

Curriculum Links

The pack links to the following National Curriculum subjects directly:

QCA KS 2 History:
Here in the Past

QCA KS 3 History: Local History

Local history resources can also be used to support learning in the following areas; literacy, geography, citizenship and maths.

Students should learn:

  • How to research local history topics
  • What sources are available for local history research
  • How to use the internet for local history research
