John Ruskin - Art, Society and Ideology

Nature Water by Keiko Mukaide

A focal point in the Ruskin Gallery is a colossal glass sculpture installed along the full length of the gallery’s exterior window. Nature Water, designed by internationally renowned glass artist Keiko Mukaide, is based on the theme of nature, which features strongly in the Guild of St George collection. This exquisite work of art incorporates the textures of the sea with misty clouds, rain and snow.

Keiko Mukaide is known for her large scale installation work. She studied at Musashino Art University, Tokyo and the Royal College of Art, London. Her glass sculptures are influenced greatly by natural forms, climates and microscopic organisms. This is her largest sculpture to date, at 14.5 metres long and 4 metres high.
