Hull-istic Medicine: Public Health through Time

About This Resource

At the Hull History Centre we have a wide range of resources about Medicine and Public Health.

We take care of the collections of the city from its beginnings and the university, so we have documents, drawings, photos, diaries, book, pamphlets and newspaper articles which can tell us about Hull’s health in the past.

We have used resources about rat-catchers, night-soil collectors, pamphlets about the plague, remedies for illnesses and photographs taken by the Public Health Department and much more to show you how health has changed over time in Hull...beware though, some of it is a bit gruesome!
