Tour Through Time: Hull's Historic High Street
For key stages 1 & 2
2 hour led session
at Hull Museum Education Learning Centre, 35 High Street
The Tour Through Time tour and led session at Hull Museum's Quarter has been designed by Hull Museum Education to meet the increasing demand for an innovative and hands-on led session, focusing on Hull’s local history.
The tour starts by involving the pupils in a time line, wearing their “historic period hats” (which will be used throughout the tour).
Pupils are introduced to the High Street and its 900 years of history before embarking on a 1 hour tour of the following sites:
· Riverside staithes
· Oldest house in Hull
· Ye Olde Black Boy Pub
· Dunwell’s Forge
· Crowle House
· Maister House
· Corn Exchange
· Wilberforce House
(Weather permitting)
Pupils then return to 35 High Street for 1 hour to investigate objects, artefacts and documents associated with the history of High Street and the city of Hull in general.
