Outcomes

Key Stage 1

Most children will:

Recognise features of home life including objects from the past; will know how these objects were used and be able to talk about their observations. They will be able to ask and answer simple questions.

Some children will not have made so much progress and will:

Identify some characteristics of home life in this period and be able to ask simple questions.

Some children will have progressed further and will:

Make comparisons between the time periods; identify and describe features of home life, modern life and the 1940s and 50s and be able to ask and answer relevant questions.

  

Key Stage 2

 

Most children will:

 

Recognise some of the similarities and differences between living conditions in the past and modern times. They will be able to ask and answer questions and make deductions about the past by using photographs in a a variety of ways.

Some children will not have made so much progress and will:

Understand that life was different in the past and will be able to make some comparisons between past and present. They will be able to ask and answer questions.

Some children will have progresssed further and will:

Describe and compare features and identify change. They will be able to select and combine information from several sources to help them to understand the past.
