Animation

Animation is like a magic trick. Pictures are made to appear as if they are moving. Photographs, drawings, objects and clay models can be animated and used in a variety of ways, such as 'Wallace and Gromit'.

Photographs are taken of the models after each movement (called frames) and these are pieced together by computer software e.g. 'stopmotion' software.  Once pieced together, a moving image can be produced.

The first moving images, recorded in Leeds on Leeds Bridge were recorded by a man called Louis Le Prince in 1888.
