True Life

The True Life film genre recreates stories of peoples' lives throughout history.

Such films include:

  • 'The Diary of Anne Frank' (the story of a young Jewish girl who hid in an attic in Nazi-occupied Austria during the Second World War)
  • 'Catch Me If You Can' (the true story of an American con-artist, Frank Abagnale Jr) and
  • 'Touching the Void' (the true story of two mountain climbers on an expedition to the Andes in 1985)

These films develop visually the idea of autobiographies and many of them were written first for print.
