Designing in China today; from primary school to professional

Introduction

This journey is the story of how a young designer in China, Ju Ping Wang, developed a life-long love for art and design into a career as a designer. It explores the first initial introduction to art and design in a remote mountain village in China and the long journey through primary, secondary and tertiary education, often many miles from her home, through to realising her dream to become a fabric pattern designer in Shanghai.

Ju Ping Wang became an integral part of the redesigning and manufacture of the Chinese silk curtains that now hang in Cliffe Castle Museum, Keighley. You can read more about reconstructing the Victorian silk curtains here.
