Commissioning a Public Sculpture for Hull

More silver at Hull's Guildhall

The Freedom Centrepiece joins many other items within the silver collection at Hull Guildhall. These pieces consist of a selection of works, created for many different purposes by skilled craftsmen throughout the previous 500 years, such as:

  • The Johnson Salver by Thomas Mangie of York, (1666)

  • Merchant's silver wine cup, (1625)

  • Porringer by Thomas Hebden, Hull (c.1675-95)

  • Sergeant's Mace showing both the Stuart and Commonwealth arms, (c.1651)

Access to the Guildhall Collection

Hull's Guildhall is part of Hull Museums. As a working building, access to most of its collections has to be by guided tour within normal office hours. However, the silver can usually be viewed simply by enquiring at the main reception desk.
