John Wesley
Wesley, who was from Epworth, North Lincolnshire, became known throughout the world for encouraging people to believe that God is interested in the whole person and not just their soul.
Harry Nixon
Henry (Harry) Nixon was born in Middlesbrough and when he was young he worked in the blast furnaces of the iron and steel industry. He moved to Scunthorpe in the early 20th Century and helped to improve working conditions for the men in the town’s steel industry. Through campaigning he was able to bring about major improvements.
Harold Dudley
A local man from Scunthorpe, Dudley campaigned to open a museum. There are some examples of fossils at North Lincolnshire Museum, typical of those collected by Harold Dudley, who was the curator there for 43 years.
