A Step by Step guide to Egyptian Mummification

Ancient Egypt at Harrogate Museums and Arts

E:SI - Egyptology: Science Investigation - Our exciting exhibition all about Ancient Egypt is now on show at the Royal Pump Room Museum.

We worked with the University of York’s latest micro-science to discover even more about our collection.

  • Can we find the remains of make-up, and what exactly was it made from?
  • What body parts were stored in the canopic jars?

You can see three large display cases full of fantastic Ancient Egyptian objects.  Their themes are death and burial, royalty and daily life.

Come and use our brand new trail and worksheets linking to the display.

You will find our hands on Investigate box where you can experience first hand what it is like to be an archaeologist and scientist.

You can dress up like an ancient Egyptian and write your name in hieroglyphs on papyrus.

We also have a dedicated website: Egyptology: Scientific Investigation .

Why not plan a visit to see this display and enjoy an object-handling session too?  Contact us for more details.
