A Day in the Life of a Young Sheffield Steel Worker

Booking a session/ acknowledgements

The material and resources collected have been used to create two resource Pods plus a new Educator-led Museum session called ‘Clocking On’. The core of the Pods is the innovative Audio Album, which is based on the Oral Histories collected by the project. Additionally some of these oral testimonies have been used within the redisplay at Kelham Island Museum.

All items included in the Pods have, as far as possible, been made in Sheffield or locally sourced, as well as using original and replica items from Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust’s education and archive collections.

To book a session please call:0114 2010613

The project is indebted to the following major contributors for their help in providing insight into the Sheffield steel industry.

Sheffield Forgemasters International
Tinsley Bridge Ltd
Peter Goss (hand forger)
Peter Gribbon (grinder)
Ron Staley (grinder)
